Tip: Work on one hand, one finger at a time - this is because as soon as the acetone comes into contact with the air it will start to harden the gel, dip powder and acrylic again making it impossible for you to remove the nail enhancement. If you are removing dip power or acrylic nails please note this may take a lot longer to do as the acetone will have a much thicker layers to go through.

Step 1. File your nails down to your desired length then file off all shine from each nail, until they appear matte. Don’t forget to also lightly file off the shiny layer on the ends (free edge) too so that the acetone can get to work properly. If you’re removing dip powder or acrylics then file off all colour until you’re left with the clear acrylic base. If the dip powder or acrylic used was already coloured at the time of application then just file off all shine, as stated above.

Step 2. Working on one finger at a time, soak a piece of cotton pad in acetone until it’s practically dripping, you need enough acetone on there so it can get through to your nail, it won’t work if it’s too dry!  Place this on top of your nail followed by wrapping a square piece of foil around your finger so that it’s covering the whole nail and secures the cotton pad in place. 

 

Step 3. Now wait for 10-15 minutes for your first hand to soak off.

Step 4. After 10-15 minutes, working on one nail/finger at a time.
Unwrap your finger then use the wooden orange stick to gently push off anything that has come loose. If you find that some of it is still not budging rewrap your nail using step 2 & 3, however you shouldn’t have to wait 10 minutes again, just keep unwrapping, checking, gently pushing off what you can and rewrapping if needed. Repeat this step until all product has been removed. If there is still a slight residue, you can use the file to gently buff off the excess – but be careful not to over file as this can create unnecessary damage to your nails.

Step 5. Move on to your next hand and repeat steps 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Step 6. After you have soaked off all of the product from all nails, refine your nails to perfect the shape and length using the ‘one direction’ or ‘left to centre, centre to right’ motion – a ‘sawing’ motion can cause trauma to the nail so please avoid doing this.

Step 7. Lastly, gently push back your cuticles using a new wooden orange stick and finish with plenty of cuticle oil and hand cream.
